Who is Acunique Health?

Vicki Osmond is an APHRA dual registered Acupuncturist and Registered Nurse. Who is a member of AACMA, (Australian Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine Association) which provides health rebates to over 26 different health funds.

Vicki is the owner and operator of Acunique Health Clinic. Vicki has worked in the health industry for almost two decades. She has always had keen interest in complimentary health and nutrition which, has seen her study various modalities along side of her nursing career. These includes; Master of Applied Science- Acupuncture, Bachelor of Nursing, Advanced Certificate in Polarity Therapy, Functional Restoration, Level one Reiki and a Certificate of Swedish massage. Further to this, she has a diploma of Community Services (Child Care). As a lifelong learner Vicki has combined her studies into practice offering a unique healing experience primarily focusing on Acupuncture therapies that addresses physical, emotional or physiological pain.

Vicki’s interest in acupuncture started when she was suffering from back pain and barely able to move. After experiencing the strong side effects of pain relief medication including; nausea, dizzy and blurred vision, her GP administered acupuncture. Within an hour she had total relief without any recurrence. Subsequently, Vicki was convinced that Acupuncture is an easy, safe and effective treatment option.

Pain can take many forms and can be debilitating whether it’s physical, emotional or a mental health condition. Mediations have numerous side effects; they can be addictive or a tolerance can develop. Further to this, legislation around prescribing opioid pain relief has changed making. People with chronic pain are having much more difficultly to access their regular analgesia, monthly doctor appointments are both a physical and financial strain. All of these things considered, alternative options that alleviate the impact on quality of life, are cost effective and safe is a positive in the long term.

This is where acupuncture can help. The World Health Organisation (WHO) acknowledges that acupuncture treatments can assist with over 100 different conditions. Including joint pain, anxiety and depression, bowel complaints and women's health just to name a few.

With her extensive knowledge base Vicki is able to formulate a treatment plan to assist you with your individual needs.

As a Registered Nurse Vicki possesses a good understanding of:

  • Anatomy, physiology and pathophysiology
  • Knowledge of medications and their indication and possible side effects
  • Experienced in liaising with GPs other allied health professionals.

While, as an Acupuncturist Vicki uses her Chinese Medicine theory to formulate an individual treatment plan. A Treatment with Vicki can consist of; needling, acupressure, Tuina (Chinese Massage), Laser Acupuncture, Electro Acupuncture and/or Moxa. These can be preformed concurrently with Polarity Therapy and Functional Restoration or individually depending on each person’s preference and underlying conditions.
